A fluency disorder is an interruption in the flow of speaking characterized by atypical rate, rhythm, and disfluencies (e.g., repetitions of sounds, syllables, words, and phrases; sound prolongations; and blocks), which may also be accompanied by excessive tension, speaking avoidance, struggle behaviors, and secondary mannerisms (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association [ASHA], 1993). The term “carryover” refers to using the skills learned in therapy and carrying them over into a variety of settings such as the classroom or home. This customized therapy-based program can provide beneficial techniques to reduce psychological, emotional, social, and functional impacts because of communication disorder.  A customized program will provide solutions to increase fluent speech through carryover techniques. Each plan when followed, at the recommended frequency, has an optimal achievement level of 100% for each plan.
